Product Overview
The Kodak Alaris ScanMate i1150 and i1180 Scanners joins the already-excellent ScanMate i1120 in Kodak Alaris’ lineup. The ScanMate i1150 Scanner ($495) scans at 25ppm in black and color with a daily duty cycle of 3,000 pages, while the ScanMate i1180 Scanner ($1,095) has a speed of 40ppm and a duty cycle of 5,000 pages. The ScanMate i1150 is targeted at businesses that focuses heavily on customer service – it has a Transaction Mode that allows for 40ppm speed for the first 10 pages. Both scanners utilize the Perfect Page image functionality – it runs on the PC for the ScanMate i1150, whereas it runs inside of the i1180 Scanner. The i1180 Scanner also has the EMC Captiva Cloud Toolkit for enabling and scanning to browser-based capture applications.
Both the i1150 and i1180 Scanners are aimed at small-to-medium businesses and at departmental users. They offer a very good set of features with a compact footprint (they weigh less than 6 pounds) and a reasonable price.
Features
Kodak Alaris includes a large set of features adopted from its higher-end devices. These include deskew, image rotation, and blank page removal. Both scanners support ultrasonic multi-feed protection and come with a 50-sheet document feeder. There is also the Intelligent Document Protection feature that stops the scanning process if it suspects paper jams or misfeeds. USB connectivity is supported. Documents to be scanned can be as small as an ID card.
There is the one-button SmartTouch feature for setting up specific scanning workflows. Bundled software includes TWAIN/ISIS and Kodak Capture Pro Software Limited Edition with an option to upgrade to the full version. Optional features include a legal-sized flatbed, an A3 flatbed, and the Asset Management Software. This software allows system administrator to manage specific Kodak Alaris scanners across the network via a thin client-based dashboard. The i1180 Scanners also has an optional Info Input Solution for enabling the user’s Line of Business (LOB) application. Finally, there is a 3-year warranty.
