Affiliate and advertising disclosure

BetterBuys has operated as an independent business technology research brand since 1996. Running an independent publication costs money, and we want to be upfront about how we plan to earn it and what that does, and does not, change about what you read here.

The short version

  • BetterBuys is building paid programs for vendors, including listing packages and sponsored placements. Some links on this site may become compensated links.
  • Compensation never affects where a product appears in our organic rankings. Ranking order comes from a published scoring formula.
  • Anything sponsored carries a visible "Sponsored placement" badge. No badge means it earned its position.
  • Editorial content is researched and written independently of any commercial relationship.

How BetterBuys makes money

We are building commercial programs that will fund the site. These include paid listing packages for vendors, clearly labeled sponsored placements, and possibly referral or affiliate partnerships with some of the companies we cover. The details of these programs, including pricing, are still being finalized. We will update this page as they launch.

Once referral partnerships are live, some links on BetterBuys may be compensated. That means if you click a link to a vendor and request a demo, sign up, or make a purchase, BetterBuys may earn a fee. This costs you nothing and does not change the price you pay.

Vendors can also pay to claim and enhance their listings. Paying for a listing package buys presentation features and the ability to keep a profile current. It does not buy a ranking position, a better score, or a more favorable write-up.

Compensation never changes our rankings

Products on BetterBuys are ordered by a published scoring formula that weighs category fit, use-case fit, buyer and industry fit, integration fit, evidence quality, pricing transparency, and freshness. Whether a vendor pays us is not an input to that formula and never will be.

Sponsored placements appear in clearly marked slots. They never push a product up the organic list, and declining to pay never pushes a product down. You can read the full formula and its weights at How we rank.

How to tell what is sponsored

Every sponsored placement on BetterBuys carries a visible badge, directly on the listing, that looks like this:

Sponsored placement
If a listing does not carry this badge, its position was earned through our scoring formula alone.

The rule is simple: badge means paid, no badge means organic. We do not mix the two, and we do not hide the badge in fine print or footnotes.

Editorial independence

Our editorial content is produced with AI assistance and reviewed by human editors. It is researched and written independently of any commercial relationship. Vendors do not review, approve, or edit our assessments before publication, and paying us does not change what we say about a product.

Every product page shows a last-verified date so you know how current the information is. If a vendor believes something we published is inaccurate, they can claim their listing and request a correction. We fix factual errors regardless of whether a vendor pays us.
