About BetterBuys

Software reviews you can actually trust.

Independent research from our editorial team. 1,200+ business software products reviewed since 1996. Read by 500,000 buyers worldwide.

Three decades of helping businesses choose better.

BetterBuys was founded in 1996 in New York City by a small team of analysts who believed software buyers deserved better than vendor marketing and anonymous forum threads. Three decades later, we're still independent, still based in New York, and our work is now read by more than 500,000 business buyers worldwide.

We don't sell software. We don't run paid placements. We don't accept money to change a score. Our revenue comes from referrals when buyers contact vendors through our site — and those referrals only work because our reviews are honest in the first place. That's the entire model.

If we ever published a review we wouldn't stand behind, our entire business model collapses. That's why our editorial process exists — not because someone told us to, but because we depend on getting it right.

How we actually review software.

Every review starts with our analysts using the product themselves — typically 8 to 12 hours per evaluation, often longer for enterprise platforms. We score each product against 47 criteria across five categories: usability, feature depth, value, customer support, and long-term scalability.

We then interview 5 to 10 verified users from companies running the software in production, not curated case studies from the vendor. Reviews are re-evaluated every 12 months to keep pace with product changes — and we publish the date of the most recent re-evaluation on every review.

No vendor can pay for a higher score. No vendor sees a review before it goes live. If a vendor disputes something, we re-test — and if we made a mistake, we correct it in public.
