Greenhouse At A Glance

Good: Comprehensive reports for tracking each candidate's experience.
Bad: No mobile accessibility.
Bottom Line: Recruiting solution used for sourcing talent.

Product Overview

Greenhouse is recruiting software designed to help companies make better hiring decisions. It provides many benefits, such as:

  • Saving time and money in recruiting (i.e. less reliant on outside agencies)
  • Smoother hiring process for multiple job positions
  • More structured and streamlined interviewing process with an “interview master plan”
  • Companies get the full picture of each job candidate in one screen (i.e resume, application, any hiring tests taken, etc)

Greenhouse offers three different job board integrations that are powered by APIs and customized based on the company’s needs.

  • Fully-hosted Job Board – The job board is developed and hosted by Greenhouse.
  • Partial Integration – This process involves both Greenhouse and the company’s IT team where the job board is embedded into the company’s website.
  • Custom Job Board – Companies have the option of building their own job board in-house using Greenhouse’s API.

Each job board provides custom formatting options, customized application questions, the ability to auto-tag candidates, and the ability to send automatic responses to each candidate that applies for a position.

Features

Greenhouse offers many different features with sourcing, interviewing, and hiring. Some of the features are:

  • Custom hiring criteria per job
  • Sourcing dashboards that lets users track candidates sent from different referrals (third-party agencies, job fair, etc)
  • Post and track job descriptions sent to social media sites (i.e. LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Post job descriptions to many job boards, such as Glassdoor, Indeed, or Careers 2.0, to name a few
  • Interview kits that include candidate’s resume, sample interview questions, and other key executives within the company that candidates have interviewed with
  • Candidate management database, such as resume & text search, candidate search filtering options, ability to export data to Excel, and eliminating duplicate candidate profiles
  • Scoring candidates on a variety of attributes (i.e. personality, skills) with a thumbs-up/thumbs-down approach
  • Managing offer/hiring process by tracking status of offers, using Word templates of offer letters, and offer approvals
  • Control of user permissions: Greenhouse provides permissions by site admin, job admin, interviewer, basic user, and sensitive information. Each user has access to Greenhouse (even an employee not involved with the hiring process can access to Greenhouse to help a company get outside referrals for positions) but access can be restricted to specific features, based on permissions.
  • Comprehensive reports on sourcing, interview pipeline, time-to-hire, and performance management. Reports can be exported to Excel for more drill-down options. Greenhouse also works with Tableau to help companies use business intelligence in their recruiting/hiring.

Implementation/Integration

The Greeenhouse solution is all-inclusive, meaning companies will pay for an enterprise-wide license, rather than by user. Companies that plan to implement Greenhouse will get a dedicated Account Manager to facilitate the process. Depending on the job board integration selected (refer to Product Details above), the implementation process could run between two and six weeks. Greenhouse also provides data migration and user training services.

Customer Service & Support

Users can contact their Greenhouse Account Manager for support questions. They can also contact Greenhouse staff via live chat as well as access the online Help Center for resources.

Shortcomings

Greenhouse does not offer a dedicated mobile app nor do they have flexibility of additional permissions. However, they do plan to offer mobile functionality in a future release. They also plan to include these features in upcoming releases:

  • Ongoing user interface improvements
  • Additional Permission Configurations
  • Additional Platform Integrations
  • Predictive Analytics & Benchmarking
