Saba At A Glance

Good: Algorithms help provide suggestions and recommendations to employees and managers.
Bad: Some users have reported that support tends to be cumbersome and untimely when fixing issues.
Bottom Line: Enables employee engagement for performance tracking and learning management.

Product Overview

Saba’s Intelligent Talent Management solution uses a personalized approach to help companies attract and retain employees – as well as to help employees in performance and learning. It enables a set of algorithms referred to as TIM (The Intelligent Monitor) that sends recommendations and suggestions to users each time they log in – for example, recommending courses for employees to take or suggestions on candidates for recruiters for specific jobs.

Saba’s Talent Management Suite covers 6 apps, which are detailed below:

Recruiting@Work: Recruiters can post jobs on job sites, such as Monster and SimplyHired, and social networking sites, such as LinkedIn and Facebook straight from the Saba app. Recruiters can also conduct video interviewing with candidates as well as utilize HireRight for background screening. Members of the hiring teams can also collaborate about candidates and new hires.

Learning@Work:  Saba’s LMS functionality combines a traditional classroom setting with online learning. Companies can have access to a wide variety of courses and content as well as help and support from Saba and 200 of its partners. For example, companies that want to teach safety measures to its employees can access safety courses from OpenSesame. Saba can be integrated with existing systems such as Salesforce. Employees can collaborate with one another via Web or video meetings, as well as access content via their mobile devices.

Performance@Work:  This performance management function allows managers and employees to collaborate on the employee’s performance.  Saba assists in helping write performance reviews, lets managers gather feedback from others involved in the employee’s performance (360-degree feedback), and helps recognize employee performance via badges and social impressions. Employers can also analyze employee performance via dashboards and metrics. Saba also provides personalized recommendations for employees to  help in their career development.

Succession@Work: This function is similar to the Recruiting and Performance Apps except it focuses on replacing existing employees leaving the company. Employers can use the talent dashboard to recognize the top-performing employees, see what department need the most talent, and performance information of current employees poised to fill in the vacated positions.

Planning@Work: This app takes on a more analytical approach to talent management and is for companies that want to plan for the future. Companies can create organizational charts with pertinent information about each employee, identify future leaders/top performers for specific positions, and cut back on time-consuming HR tasks. Saba also assists in complying with government regulations by maintaining data needed for auditing purposes.

Compensation@Work: This app uses business intelligence and analytics to help companies recognize top-performing employees with higher raises or bonuses and identify employees who are at risk for leaving the company. Using  a variety of business intelligence tools (such as the What-If analysis), companies can determine if there is enough money in the budget to accommodate compensation increases.
