Unanet At A Glance

Good: Dynamic financial planning for completing projects on budget.
Bad: Only time sheets are available via mobile, no stopwatch feature for tracking time.
Bottom Line: Project management solution with a strong focus on resource management for scheduling employees.

Product Overview

Unanet offers a range of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions in different licensing packages. For the purposes of this review, we’ve focused on Unanet’s most inclusive licensing package, Project Portfolio Financials.

Unanet is a project management solution for teams to keep track of project portfolios. It’s the best fit for project management offices with enterprise needs.

The system standardizes the processes for managing critical projects and helps align employees with corporate goals. By keeping a complete record of these standard processes, it helps companies forecast the return on future projects as well.

Features

We’ve chosen the following three features to highlight Unanet’s strengths:

1. Resource Allocation – Managers are able to forecast the progress of projects, then allocate and schedule resources for each day. Employees are color coded in the system based on how booked they are with work. Percentages also show when it may be required to shift tasks to others with the same skill set. The solution keeps a record of employees’ unique talents and qualifications, and it can be used to track credentials for hiring purposes.

2. Time Logs – Employees are given internal, role-based permissions. Managers have more access to high-level information. Once employees are scheduled, they’re able to access the system to log their time based on authorizations for projects and tasks. They’re can comment on each task and note expenses for reimbursement. Receipts can be attached to expense reports and put through to an approval queue.

3. Dashboards and Reports – A home dashboard keeps track of ongoing tasks and critical information at a glance, including forecasts. Real-time reports allow managers to compare forecasted budgets to actual budgets at any time, rather than waiting for monthly or quarterly reports. Unanet offers a vast range of reporting features and allows clients to customize report templates.

Additional notable features include financials, billing, expense management, project management, project accounting and much more.

Shortcomings

Time sheets are the only feature available on mobile.

Also, some clients have said they’d like Unanet to have a stopwatch feature for employees to log time as they work, instead of filling in time after the work is finished.
