Asentia At A Glance
Product Overview
Asentia is the next-generation learning management system (LMS) from ICS Learning Group that debuted in 2016. It’s a cloud-based solution designed to help users receive training without having to be at a desk during business hours. Users can access Asentia from any mobile device via a web browser.
The solution has a clean and intuitive interface that can be customized to a company’s brand (e.g., company logo or colors). All users, from learners to administrators, can access a dashboard that can be personalized with drag-and-drop widgets.
Asentia adapts to any learning environment, including classroom learning, mobile learning, online training or blended learning. Some common training topics include:
- New employee onboarding or professional development of current employees
- New product/software rollout
- Customer service
- Leadership development
- Legal and regulatory compliance
- Sales and marketing
Another benefit of Asentia is that it automates many tasks associated with learning, such as creating learning paths, sending deadline reminders and notifications of learning progress, and reporting. For example, using the Asentia rule-based system, administrators can decide which employees need training in a specific area and set up automatic course enrollment. Administrators can also upload batch data for user profiles to save time.
Features
Asentia has many useful features. In this section, we’ll point out some of the key ones.
Administrators can create their own content within Asentia, choose from Asentia’s 4,000-course catalog or have Asentia create custom courses specifically for their business. When creating content within Asentia, administrators can use compatible authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Quizmaster or Elucidat.
Asentia is compatible with both SCORM and non-SCORM content, as well as xAPI (TinCan) content. Administrators can upload videos, documents, PowerPoint files or PDFs to Asentia.
Additional course features include the ability to track learning paths, instructor-led training attendance, wait lists and resource management; private and public course catalogs; and training completion certificates.
Asentia includes social learning features, such as a Wall (similar to Facebook) where users can post questions, comments and other information. Additional features include online groups and a private messaging system similar to email.
Email and SMS notifications can be sent to administrators and learners based on triggers for specific learning events (e.g., reminder to complete an assignment by deadline).
There’s also a robust reporting engine that allows administrators to run ad-hoc reports based on all learning data. Reports can be scheduled to run automatically and be emailed at specific times, as well as exported to Excel and .CSV files. Administrators can set permissions for who can access the data and run reports. Reports can be shared publicly or privately.
Companies that want to sell their courses can use the e-commerce feature. External customers can browse through a course catalog and add specific courses to a shopping cart for purchase. Businesses can offer discount codes for courses and accept credit card payments via PayPal or Authorize.net.
In addition, the tracking code feature lets administrators monitor site traffic through a tool like Google Analytics.

Implementation/Integration
Asentia’s pricing and implementation process doesn’t follow a one-size-fits-all approach. Rather, Asentia determines the best price for a company based on its size, industry, required features and other factors. The implementation and onboarding process is also customized – a new client works one-on-one directly with Asentia’s development staff.
Customer Service & Support
There’s a support site where users can access a knowledge base of common troubleshooting questions and other information about Asentia. Users can submit a support ticket through the site, as well as view current and past tickets.
Asentia’s customer service is available by phone Monday though Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.

Shortcomings
Released in 2016, Asentia is still a new solution. ICS continues to aggressively update the system and monitor its data center to ensure high performance.
The new client launch process tends to be long, and ICS is working to streamline it. In addition, support hours are currently limited to regular business hours at its East Coast headquarters.
