Product Overview

Similar to the Visioneer RoadWarrior X3 scanner, the new Xerox Duplex Portable Scanner is designed for offices with both in-house and remote employees. Employees that work from home or have clients and customers in the field can scan paper documents without having go to the office to do so.

The Duplex Portable Scanner ($340) allows users to scan documents either from the automatic document feeder (ADF) or through the front feed. Its speed (if scanned through the ADF) is up to 20ppm simplex and 40ipm duplex (at 200dpi) in black and color. Note that the speed decreases at 300dpi to 15ppm simplex and 30ipm duplex. If the scan is done through the front feed, the speed is about eight seconds per page. The optical resolution is 600dpi.

The scanner can be powered by both the USB port and AC power (electrical cord). Note that Xerox recommends you use the AC power to get the highest performance from the scanner.

Please refer to our Features section below for more technical details.

The Xerox Duplex Portable Scanner is versatile – it can work as a desktop scanner but also can be used in the field. It’s also lightweight at approximately 3 pounds.

Features

The ADF has a 20-sheet capacity. The scanner supports ID cards, documents (up to 8.5″ x 118″ in size), photos and business cards. Its daily duty cycle is 1,000 pages.

The Duplex Portable Scanner is compatible with both PCs and Macs. It includes a set of bundled software that, depending if you use a PC or Mac, are:

  • ABBYY Business Card Reader (PC)
  • ABBYY Fine Reader Sprint (both Mac and PC)
  • Nuance PaperPort Pro (PC)

We want to specifically mention another software: Findo. Used with both Macs and PCs, Findo is single point search feature that can intelligently find a scanned file. Xerox offers a free three-month subscription to Findo Ultimate, a solution that allows users to find a specific file via email and the cloud.
