Product Overview

COVID-19 has brought more employees to work from home, so HP offers its line of all-in-one printers that target those employees. One of the newer devices is the HP ENVY 6055 All-in-One Printer which offers printing, scanning and copying capabilities. It has an ISO speed of up to 10 ppm in black and up to 7 ppm in color. The device comes with an 800 MHz processor and 128 MB of memory, and users can also connect it to their Wi-Fi or Bluetooth networks. They can download the HP Smart App for printing documents, scanning files and making copies while on the go. The app also includes a step-by-step guide for setting up the printer and sends notifications when a print job is completed or when the ink levels are too low.

In addition to the HP Smart App, the ENVY 6055 supports Apple AirPrint and Mopria-certified devices. USB connectivity is standard, and HP’s propriety print language is supported.

More details is in our Features section below.

Features

Paper handling consists of a 100-sheet input tray and a 25-sheet output tray that supports up to letter-sized paper. The monthly duty cycle is 1,000 pages, but HP recommends an average volume of 100 to 400 pages per month. Automatic duplexing is supported.

There’s a flatbed scanner that supports RAW, JPG and PDF file formats, and users can scan files via their mobile devices.

HP offers both standard and high-yield replacement ink cartridges. It offers an Instant Ink printing program where users choose from any of the five plans based on the number of pages they print per month. The user receive new ink once HP receives an alert that the device needs more ink. Cartridge recycling and shipping is also included in the plan. Aside from convenience, the program can help users save money on ink costs.

Finally, there’s a one-year limited hardware warranty and HP offers optional extended warranty packages.

Shortcomings

Because the HP ENVY 6500 is mainly intended for the home office, it wouldn’t have the robust features that businesses will need (e.g., document feeder, higher paper capacity, Ethernet connectivity).
