Product Overview

The ScanSnap iX1500 is the latest entry in Fujitsu’s ScanSnap series of network and portable document scanners for the home and small business markets. At $495 (list price), it scans at up to 30 ppm in black and color (both simplex and duplex) and includes a 50-sheet automatic document feeder. There’s a 4.3″ color touchscreen interface with one-touch buttons for commonly-used workflows, such as document sharing and email attachments. The touchscreen supports up to 30 pre-configured profiles and settings, and users can choose from eight different colors for their ScanSnap profiles.

Users can either select the scanning mode (Normal, Better, Best or Excellent) for optimal quality or push the Auto Scan button. There’s also a Fast Startup mode that, once enabled, starts scanning documents once the scanner’s lid opens. The scanner includes a rounded feeding chute that prevents paper curling, as well as a Receipt Guide that’s inserted onto the device so multiple receipt and business card scanning can be done.

The iX1500 supports USB and wireless connectivity.

More details is in our Features section below.

The Fujitsu iX1500 scanner includes intuitive and automated features that help users improve their document scanning and management productivity.

Features

The iX1500 accommodates a variety of documents, such as receipts or business cards. The minimum paper size is 2″ x 2″, and the maximum paper size in normal scan is 8.5″ x 14″.

The scanner does accept paper sizes of up to 11″ x 17″, however, it’s only done as a manual scan. Long paper document scanning is also supported. Ultrasonic multi-feed detection is standard.

The iX1500 scanner includes the ScanSnap Home software that combines many document imaging and management features in one place. Users can quickly find, organize and edit their scanned documents. Scanned files are grouped in four categories: documents, receipts, photos and business cards. The software also recommends specific file names based on the text found in the document.

ScanSnap Home includes intelligent image enhancement features, such as automatic color detection, automatic size detection, automatic rotation, blank page removal and de-skewing.

Users can scan their documents to cloud services via the ScanSnap Cloud app, such as Evernote, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive. They also can scan receipts or other accounting records to cloud-based finance software, such as QuickBooks, Shoeboxed or Expensify.

In addition to ScanSnap Home, other bundled software includes ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap and Nuance Power PDF Standard (for Windows) and Nuance PDF Converter for Mac.

Additional features include Dust Detection (that spots any dust on the glass and then notifies the user) and Streak Reduction (that removes any streaks on the scanned images).
