How Much is Edmodo?

Edmodo is an entirely cloud-based solution that’s available to users through a web browser in two ways.

Edmodo “Freemium”: Any student, teacher, parent or school administrator can create an account for free.

The solution operates as a social platform (similar to Facebook) to communicate announcements and assignments online. The features available for free include:

  • Unlimited document storage
  • Integration with Microsoft Office and Google Apps
  • Mobile access
  • Security and privacy tools

Other services include Edmodo Sync, where clients pay a one-time $500 fee to integrate Edmodo with an existing Student Information System (SIS). In addition, for $2,500, an Edmodo-certified trainer can give users a day of professional development at your school.

How to Reduce the Costs

Edmodo is free to use, so it’s easy to test it before buying. LMS alternatives resemble Edmodo for targeting K-12 education, and offer similar features at lower costs depending on your number of learners.

Moodle is an open source solution available to download for free. Schools can include up to 50 users for free, and premium accounts start at $190/school/year for up to 100 students. For a small school, Moodle could be a less expensive option.

Edsby is another solution that specializes in schools. It’s is free for parent accounts but specific pricing for schools is not available.

Bottom Line

Edmodo is free to use where instructors are also given unique tools for creating lessons.

While Edmodo is a popular elearning option, there are many similar LMS solutions.
